I’m going to redesign this portfolio site. There are a few reasons why.
At the end of 2009, Councillor Ken Hawkins and I worked together to set up a new website that Ken uses to write about issues in Elmdon and Solihull in his role at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
SMASH (Solihull Methodists Acting and Singing in Harmony) are a music and drama group based at Solihull Methodist Church. I’ve maintained the Wordpress site for SMASH since 2006. The site contains a photo archive of past productions and a blog about the group’s activities, such as upcoming shows, rehearsal details and ticket booking. I updated the site last month with a new information architecture, making better use of Wordpress’s categories to organise and surface content through the site.
Yesterday I went to West by West Midlands 2 at the Spotted Dog in Digbeth, Birmingham. Hosted by Shona McQuillan, there were some planned talks plus, in the unconference style, off-the-cuff talks by attendees. If the number chosen by Shona’s random number generator thingy matched the number on your sticky lapel label, you stood up and gave an impromptu talk. My number 31 popped up and here is my attempt to describe what (I think) I talked about.
