Playing with Percolator for iPhone

Percolator post head

Percolator is an app for iPhone and iPad you can use to create interesting mosaics from your photos.

The process for making a mosaic is straightforward. Inside the app you take a photo using your built-in camera or choose an existing photo from your photo library.

You then have three types of filters to play with:

  1. Grind – this breaks down your image, reforming the image as a mosaic.
  2. Brew – choose different types of shapes, such as circles, stars and rings.
  3. Serve – add finishing touches with colour and texture.

Here’s a screenshot of creating an image in Percolator on the iPhone:

Here are my first experiments playing with the app.

You can see more images in the Percolator group on flickr.

Three types of filter may not seem much but the potential combinations of the settings give a lot of scope for creating different types of images. I’m hooked already and imagine spending a lot of time in this app. It’s addictive!
